The History of General Jean Rapp

Born in Colmar, France (1771), Jean Rapp initially pursued theological studies but soon found his true calling in the military. Swiftly rose through the ranks due to his exceptional battlefield leadership and bold strategies, General Rapp had been serving as Aide-de-Camp to General Louis Desaix and later to Napoleon Bonaparte.

Throughout the Napoleonic Wars, General Rapp played a decisive role in several key battles:

Battle of Austerlitz (1805) – Led a daring cavalry charge, devastating the Russian Imperial Guard.

Battle of Jena (1806) – Fought heroically but sustained wounds.

Battle of Borodino (1812) – Braved intense combat despite multiple injuries.

Defense of Danzig (1813) – Held the city against overwhelming enemy forces for a year.

Battle of La Suffel (1815) – Commanded French forces to victory near Strasbourg during the Hundred Days.​

Remaining steadfastly loyal to Napoleon, General Rapp stood by the emperor until the very end.
He passed away in Rheinweiler, Germany (1821), leaving behind a legacy of valor and dedication.
